Responsible Resource Home Program

New home builders:  you can qualify for more than $1,000 in incentives with HWE's Responsible Resource Home (RRH) Program. Install high-efficiency heating and cooling equipment, along with adding some easy-to-achieve weatherization standards and you can qualify for the following:

  • $600 rebate per Dual Fuel unit or $800 rebate per geothermal unit with radio-controlled switch.
  • Free electric water heater (radio-controlled switch must be installed); choose any style, up to a $500 maximum.
  • Free temporary service (up to $150 value).  You will be billed for this up front, but we will credit you at the end once you fulfill the requirements of this program.
  • $150 toward the purchase of an electric decorative front yard light (post style).

Program standards
Because we are the electric company, we are requiring that we receive a larger share of the total energy load for the home. Yet, the total energy use by the home will be less than if you selected other options. In addition to financial incentives, the RRH designation will help speed and increase your home's resale value should you ever move. What the member must do:

  • Contact HWE before construction begins (or you cannot participate).
  • Install a Dual Fuel or geothermal system.
  • Install an electric water heater with a radio-controlled switch.
  • Install double glazed, low-e windows.
  • Install minimum of R-15 insulation in the walls (the R-factor is the measurement of how well insulation resists heat flow -- thus, the "R"; the higher the R-value, the better the insulating power).
  • Install minimum of R-38 insulation in the attic.
