Enjoy a $600 rebate on Dual Fuel,
which allows you to take advantage of the peak efficiencies
of electric and fossil fuel heating equipment. You use both
a heat pump and a fossil fuel furnace to heat. In the summer
the heat pump provides air conditioning. It's a great comfort
solution if you have a furnace in good condition, and you
want to add or replace air conditioning. Or you can install
Dual Fuel in a new home. The installation cost of a heat pump
vs. high-efficiency air conditioning is very similar. However,
with a $600 rebate, your total payments can actually be less.
Today's
durable heat pump
Today's heat pumps are efficient and durable. Modern compressors
are more dependable and cost-effective than earlier models.
The heat pump provides comfortable, warm air at a lower cost
than gas or oil furnaces when it is moderately cold outside.
The
switch is automatic
If the outdoor temperature drops below what is called the
balance point, the heat pump automatically shuts off, and
your furnace takes over. The exact temperature where the switch
takes place is determined by the efficiency of the equipment
and the price of the fuel you have available, such as natural
gas, propane, or fuel oil. Given fuel pricing volatility,
HWE recommends that the furnace take over when it is below
35 F.
You
take control
That's another advantage of Dual Fuel. If energy prices fluctuate
dramatically, you can ask your dealer to reset the balance
point to a different temperature so you get the most for your
money. This will extend the life of your furnace because it
operates less often. In fact, most members like the idea of
having two heating systems in case one needs maintenance.
How
much does it save?
It depends on the size of the house and whether your fossil
fuel is propane or natural gas. However, most people can save
at least $200 per year and many save $300. Propane users save
more because propane is usually more expensive than natural
gas. Your dealer is the best source of information.
Is
a heat pump reliable? Will I be warm?
Modern heat pumps are much more reliable and professionals
know much more about how to design heating systems and duct
work for heat pumps now than ever before. The air temperature
from a heat pump is more than 90 degrees, and since you will
only be using it during moderate temperatures, you will be
using the system at the temperatures for which it was designed.
Heat pumps are also built of stronger, more reliable components
today. We feel very confident of your comfort. In fact, we
have never had a complaint about a Dual Fuel system.
