Allow Hancock-Wood to install a radio-controlled switch to manage
your air conditioning, and receive a monthly (June - Sept.)
$1.50 credit whether it’s activated or not. This part
of our program to help control the demand for electricity,
also helps stabilize its price.
During times when many people need electricity at once, Hancock-Wood
must meet that demand. At a certain point, additional –
and more expensive – generation units are needed to
supply the energy. That increases the price of electricity.
By briefly interrupting the flow of electricity to air conditioners
that have a radio-controlled switch, HWE can lower the demand
for energy. This helps control the cost for it, and most people
with switches never even notice. Typically, our statewide office only controls for 20 minutes per hour for two consecutive hours (usually 5-7 pm) -- only on those extremely hot days. The compressor is turned off, but the fan or air handler continues to run and circulate current air throughout the home.
Note: The winner of our free $100 Kohls gift card from the Jan.-May 2008 drawing was Richard Wilhelm of Findlay, who signed up for a switch on Wednesday, April 2, 2008. Congratulations!
