Electric Safety Tips - Miscellaneous

Storm warning! Electrical safety steps you can take
Thunderstorms are dangerous in and of themselves, but they also can cause damage to power lines and facilities that pose hazards you need to be aware of. To lessen the risk that storms will damage overhead lines into your home, have any trees that grow near those lines trimmed. Be sure to hire a professional; this is a dangerous job for anyone who is untrained! Stay informed about the weather in your area. If you are warned about approaching violent storms that could cause power outages, turn the temperature in your refrigerator and freezer to the lowest setting, to provide maximum chilling before the power goes out. Make sure you have flashlights, fresh batteries, and a battery-operated radio handy, and fill containers and your bathtub with water.
