NORTH BALTIMORE, Ohio - 5:30 am - Ice, sleet and snow from
Wednesday and this morning’s storm have resulted in
some power outages for members of Hancock-Wood Electric Cooperative
(HWE). Currently about 2,200 members have been without power
since 11:00 pm. Although HWE crews are working on site and
will continue to work to restore power to members as quickly
as possible, the main issue is an American Electric Power
(AEP) transmission line feeding three (3) HWE substations.
It is hoped that the majority of remaining members’
power will be restored sometime today, though it is difficult
for HWE to make a prediction due to the transmission problems.
Again, HWE is waiting for AEP’s transmission line to
be restored; this transmission line feeds HWE’s Bluffton,
Blanchard and East Findlay substations. Lack of power to these
three substations is affecting the areas of Arlington, Bluffton,
Jenera, Mt. Blanchard, Mt. Cory and Vanlue. Anyone experiencing
future outages should call HWE at 888-417-3010.
Very minimal outages occurred randomly on Wednesday from 9:30
am-2:00 pm, and most were restored within one hour or less.
The bulk of the outages began Wednesday around 8:00 pm, and
at its height around 12:00 am, about 3,000 members were without
power.
