NORTH BALTIMORE, Ohio – 3:35 p.m. – Outages have increased in Hancock-Wood Electric Cooperative service territory – up from 1,300 at 10:00 a.m., to 2,800 as of 3:30 p.m. This number has been on the rise due to persistent winds causing ice covered lines to “gallop” and break at the cross arm (at the top of the pole). HWEC anticipates restoring every member by Wednesday.
HWEC crews remain on site throughout the area, and there are several fellow Ohio electric cooperatives and contract crews assisting with restoration, as well. As mentioned, the prevalent problem is broken cross arms, and members should bear in mind that correcting this problem is a time consuming process. Of course, the work will continue until the restoration is complete.
Outage totals include: Hancock Co – 1,300; Wood Co – 1000; Putnam, Sandusky & Henry Co’s: 500 total.
Anyone experiencing future outages should call HWEC at 888-417-3010.
