NORTH BALTIMORE, Ohio – 6:30 p.m. – Ice and wind from the recent winter storm have resulted in some power outages for members of Hancock-Wood Electric Cooperative. Currently about 1,500 members are without power. Outages started at 4:00 a.m. today, and at its height at 4:00 p.m. was around 2,000. Hancock County currently has about 635 members without power, Wood County has 535, Wyandot has 105, and the remaining outages are scattered around Henry, Putnam, Sandusky and Hardin Counties.
HWEC crews are working on site and will continue to work to restore power to members as quickly as possible, though as mentioned, it is not expected that these outage numbers will change dramatically overnight. It is hoped that the majority of remaining members’ power will be restored Monday afternoon, and all will be restored by Monday night or Tuesday. Bear in mind, it is difficult to make an accurate prediction due to transmission problems out of Hancock-Wood’s control. Anyone experiencing future outages should call HWEC at 888-417-3010.
