NORTH BALTIMORE, Ohio - Do air traffic controllers use your home as markers for airplanes at night? Have you affixed so many tiny bulbs to your home that it looks more like the Las Vegas strip than a three-bedroom house? Are you kept awake at night by your light display? If so, you’re in luck, because Hancock-Wood Electric Cooperative (HWEC) is looking for the best and brightest in its service territory, and you can win a $100 Meijer gift card for your efforts.
It is your chance to get creative, entertain your community and spread holiday cheer. HWEC is conducting a “Holiday Light Contest” for members only. Here’s how it works: set up your amazing outdoor light display, take a picture of it (digital cameras work best) and forward it to HWE -- along with your name, address, phone -- by Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at 9 am:
Via e-mail: info@hwelectric.com (jpg’s preferred, must be smaller than 1.4 MB)
Via mail: Holiday Light Contest; HWE, P.O. Box 190, North Baltimore, OH 45872-0190
All entries, as well as your home address, will be displayed at hwelectric.com so others can take a drive and enjoy your exterior lights in person if they wish. You can only win in one category, so let HWE know in which category you’d like to compete. Plus, HWEC will award $100 Meijer gift certificates as prizes for one winner in each category:
1. Most overall lighting/brightest
2. Best “reason for the season” display
3. Most unique and distinctive
If HWEC’s employee-judges have difficulty determining a winner from the pictures, they will visit homes the week of Mon., Dec. 17-Wed., Dec. 19, 2007, so contestants should have their lights turned on during that week (during morning darkness, as well as night) just in case. Winners will be contacted sometime on/before Thur., Dec. 20, 2007. (If your entry is not received on time it cannot be entered in the contest.)
