Hancock-Wood Electric Cooperative is offering an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. next summer as part of its Youth Tour Program.
Area high school sophomores and juniors have a chance to win a trip to the nation’s capital for the week of June 13-19, 2008. Students are eligible for the Youth Tour if they are Hancock-Wood members. A short test on knowledge of cooperatives will determine the winners (one boy and one girl).
Youth Tour participants will have the chance to learn about our nation’s capital, the government and electric cooperatives while also seeing the historic and cultural sights of the area. About 42 students and chaperones representing each Ohio electric cooperative will travel on a chartered, air-conditioned bus to Washington, where they will join more than 900 students representing co-ops from across the country. The Ohio group will have its own itinerary for sightseeing and entertainment, all expenses paid by Hancock-Wood.
The program, more than two decades old, is coordinated by the Ohio Rural Electric Cooperatives, Inc, HWEC’s statewide association. Interested students may Contact Us to receive a free application form; the deadline is March 1, 2008. Recent winners have included:
