In 1999, Ohio enacted a law deregulating
(some use the term "restructuring") the state's
electric utility industry. The centerpiece of this legislation
is its "customer choice" provisions, under which
some customers were eligible to start shopping for new suppliers
of their electric power on January 1, 2001.
Hancock-Wood and Ohio's electric cooperatives welcome these industry
changes. We've been telling our members about deregulation
for several years. In fact, we list articles below that ran
in company publications over the years to help you learn more
about deregulation.
